Get ready for some kitchen pics!!!!!

In any room, I love to see and appreciate unique qualities.  Big "Captain Obvious" sized uniqueness or teeny-tiny treasures that capture my eye in a sudden double-take of recognition.  Kitchens are the ultimate get-together room in a home where everyone tends to plant themselves.  It doesn't matter whose kitchen I'm in or what style of picture of a kitchen I'm perusing over, I'm looking for that "something" that catches my oh-so-curious eye.  Thank heavens for Homes and Gardens kitchen gallery.  I might have spent some time there obsessing over every...single...kitchen....image.  Here, let me show you:

The conservatory-like style in this kitchen is so bright and inviting.
This country style kitchen is offset beautifully by turquoise accents.
I love the freestanding look of this kitchen.  The island is so casual and I love the butcher block!
Who wouldn't love this french country kitchen with butcher block counter tops and church arched style cabinets?
The green cabinets and floral patterns in this kitchen are so visually attractive.  The slipcovers over these chairs are a particular love of mine!
I'm totally traditional, so this kitchen is probably my numero uno pick! I love the mantle over the stove in place of a hood.  AWESOME!!!
Modern shelving and seating make this kitchen unique!

Vintage kitchens are always so cute and quaint.  I love the bistro style chairs that were chosen.  Too cute for words.
Here's another darling vintage kitchen with an old stove to prove it!
As always, I'm predictable in my choice of country styles.  I heart these white washed floors!

What's unique in your kitchen?
I have  roosters and chickens in mine......

Family Room Ideas....

We finished our basement recently and I'm constantly looking at different styles of family rooms.  Our upstairs is slightly formal, but kid friendly.  I generally think that if there are two living/family rooms, they should be different in colors and slightly different in styles.  These were some of the ideas I came up with but, don't generally love (I'll admit) but, liked to some extent:

This is my favorite room:  Stylish and Comfortable:
You know I love me some Country:
I love blue and a cottage feel.  I guess this is my take:
Lastly is the masculine room with a rustic touch:

Rugs, schmugs.....

Trying to furnish a basement, looking at every room, and then trying to figure colors schemes for each room is soooo stressful. So stressful in fact, that when we were painting the basement, I wasted three gallons of paint because they just didn't look quite right. We painted the entire basement ourselves and due to the excessive workload and stress, I went into labor with my second child two weeks early. But, that's beside the point. The point is that now that the wall colors are done, I'm thinking accessory color. I really wanted a rug in the main room. I have a fabulous rug in my dining area. It's pretty traditional meaning: classic color, style, and shape. It looks almost identical to the picture above. I found this really cool rug with cutouts! So now I'm thinking traditional, modern, oriental, floral, plain, patterned, shaped, you get the idea! It's ridiculous! As I was shopping I came across some awesome sites and rugs! I love the black and white theme in the picture but, I'm not an animal print person per say.... Oh, but I do love a shag rug. Look how big and luscious this is! I just want to roll around in it! Now this rug is very patterned but, looks perfect because the walls are white and nothing else is really busy. I love this one because I'm a sucker for golds and deep yellows. This rug has just a touch. And lastly, as you all know, I love green. Not only was the room green but, the rug had some in it too! It's the best of both worlds! Oh well, while I'm still pondering this, I had some thrift store finds that need some TLC. My issue is that I need a better camera to show them. I guess we all do what we can, right?!

Chandelier love.....

I was looking for chandeliers to put in my little girls bedroom and stumbled across this masterpiece! It's made by lladro in Spain! It consists of matte porcelain butterfly fairies that are individually attached to cables. It literally looks like it's raining butterflies, does it not?! I was really looking for something more like this:this: or this:Truthfully, I think I need something a little smaller and probably a littler simpler. but, seriously aren't those gorgeous?! I'm leaning towards something maybe pink or white with crystals. I love the bling.Images via Mrs Jones Painted Finishes, Wee Baby Stuff, Decor Pad, and Maura Daniel Lighting

You Make Me Green With Envy......

So, I know I mentioned in the previous post that I have a thing for green. The problem is that I suffer from color phobia. There are a few safe colors I will use such as: neutrals, some blues and grays, and green. I tend to lean towards traditional styles but, love the use of earthy colors! These photos were gorgeous and not only displayed the best shades of green but, also caused me to have a moment of furniture envy. Enjoy!Image via Decor Pad
