Another Dr's Appointment.....

My daughter is going again to the doctor today for more blood tests.  Apparently, in addition to Alopecia, she might be anemic.  So here we go again.  Isn't it crazy how having a sick child affects every part of your life, specifically your sleep?!  I just toss and turn with worry and can't shut down for the night. I'm hoping we'll have some closure to all of her issues today. Wish me luck so I might be able to sleep peacefully again!

Guest Room!

I can't believe the year is over!  My resolution for this year is to finish the empty and undecorated rooms in my house.  I'm such a lucky daughter.  Our guest room has been sitting empty because it just hasn't been in our budget to get a bed or furniture.  My parents are getting a new mattress and gave us their King Size bed!  Now I'm getting ideas on how to decorate the room!  The walls are a rich golden color and I don't want to change that gorgeous shade.  I also want to use the green dresser that I painted in the decor.
I'm thinking of a couple different options.  My option one is fun with this super chunky black headboard and colorful bedspread.

Stay tuned for my next option. I think I like that one best!

Ahh, the weekend....

This weekend my sister is in town to run a marathon.  She's nervous but, I know she'll do well!  I'm so happy to see her because she lives so far away.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your family.  I wanted to leave you with an inspiring picture.  I love this unique way of hanging mirrors in a foyer!

Ikea and Pottery Barn? Trust me, okay!

So our friend, Maria, over at Colour Me Happy Blog, mentioned in a great post how smart it is to mix and match pieces from other stores.  For example, don't make an entire room out of Ikea furniture, but choose pieces and decorate the other areas from a different supplier.  This totally got my mind thinking, "What about Ikea and Pottery Barn?!"  Well, I was up for the challenge and these were my faves.  The furniture is from Ikea and the accessories are from Pottery Barn!

What's something that you mix and match?
Clothing, home decor pieces, colors, your spouse....anything!  I want to know!

I love designer portfolios.....

I found another great designer, Stephanie Wohlner, via another blog which I can't even remember.  Let me tell you folks, she is awesome.  Stephanie uses great choices of cool colors and frequents earthy tones balanced with pops of color.  I love that she throws in a lot of subtle animal prints in almost every room she does.  She has a very identifiable design style and it's very appealing.  Check her out here and enjoy these eye candies.
See what I mean?  Beautiful!

What's Your Style In One Picture Challenge!

As I'm sure all of you know, Ally, from From the Right Bank, has issued this challenge I think three times.  This was so hard for me but, I think I found the perfect room.  It's a beautiful living room in San Francisco.
Why is it my style you ask?  Well, It's somewhat traditional which I love but, has touches of femininity and elegance that I think makes a room unique.  So I guess you could say this room screams of traditional elegance. I love the couches in that you could literally use them for any room in your house.  But, the chandelier, crystal lamps, and accessories glitz the room up to a more formal setting.  The fireplace is focal piece yet doesn't take away from the other lovelies in the room.  I love the mirror and darn it I love that zebra bench!  Truly I love this whole room.  What's your style in one picture?  Go join the challenge here!

aaahhh, Finally a Sunny Day!

Since it's finally sunny here and the weather is begging me to be outdoors, I'm going to take my children to a waterpark (we have season passes!)  So I leave you with a quick short note to have a wonderful summer day and with these lovely outdoor images from Country Living. All these spaces make me feel like a nice family dinner, an outdoor party, or a quiet moment with a cup of tea and a book.
What do you do for a relaxing summer's eve?
